Welcome to the inaugural Aston Down Airfield Trials! This brand-new event offers a unique opportunity to race on the wide, open tarmac of Aston Down Airfield.

For 2026, this is an exclusive, SADAC members-only test event as we pilot the venue. Entry is completely FREE for all Stroud and District AC members and their families, and every race is fully chip timed. The course itself is reasonably flat and follows out-and-back loops utilizing the main airfield runways.

Whether you are looking for a sharp mid-week time trial or bringing the family down for a junior run, we have a distance for everyone. Help us test the logistics this summer so we can look to open the event up to other local running clubs in the future!

Event Details

• Date: Thursday, July 9th, 2026

• Location: Aston Down Airfield, Gloucestershire

• Race Start: 7:00 PM (All distances start simultaneously)

• Cost: FREE (Exclusive to Stroud and District AC members)

• Timing: Full chip timing provided

Distance Options & Age Restrictions

Please ensure you select the correct distance during entry. Age limits apply based on UKA guidelines for these specific route layouts:

• 2.5km Race

  • Route: A single shorter airfield lap.

  • Age Limit: Open to all ages / juniors.

• 5km Race

  • Route: One full single lap covering the length of the main runways.

  • Age Limit: Ages 12 and over.

• 10km Race

  • Route: Two full laps of the main 5km airfield course.

  • Age Limit: Ages 16 and over.

Event Logistics & Facilities

• Car Parking: Ample free car parking is available right at the event on-site at the airfield. Please follow volunteer signs and marshal instructions on arrival.

• Refreshments: We are currently looking to put on refreshments at the event village area to help you refuel, hydrate, and socialise with clubmates after crossing the finish line.
